MexProtect™

Film-forming protection for selected water systems

Film-forming amine technology for corrosion control, made in the Netherlands and available exclusively through MexTech in the Benelux.

Film-forming protection

A hydrophobic barrier on metal surfaces

The amine groups attach to metal oxides while the long hydrocarbon chains orient away from the water. This creates a very thin, water-repellent barrier between the surface and the water phase. The programme is intended for selected industrial water circuits.

  • Corrosion reduction during continuous operation
  • Support for clean heat-transfer surfaces
  • Protection during selected shutdown and lay-up situations
  • Performance tracked using coupons, metal transport and process KPIs

Applications

For selected industrial water circuits

Suitability is assessed on the basis of water chemistry, materials, temperature, system volume, existing deposits and the current treatment programme.

Open recirculating cooling systems

Surface-focused corrosion protection in selected cooling towers and open cooling circuits.

Closed cooling and heating circuits

Film-forming protection in selected closed systems with suitable material combinations.

Process cooling and heat exchangers

For industrial cooling circuits where corrosion, heat transfer and filter loading can be monitored.

HVAC and district cooling

For selected systems with long-term circulation and potentially mixed materials.

Utility-water circuits

Treatment of selected utility-water systems in industry, energy and waste processing.

Shutdown and lay-up

Potential support for wet or dry lay-up, following assessment of the installation and shutdown duration.

Clear product selection

One technology family, two distinct products

Corrosion control and microbiological control each require their own product status, performance criteria and conditions of use.

MexProtect™ corrosion inhibitor

For film-forming corrosion protection in selected industrial water circuits. MexProtect™ is marketed without a biocidal claim.

Film-forming amine biocide

A separate biocide for selected industrial cooling-water applications where biofilm and biological fouling must be controlled. Use only in accordance with the current country-specific authorisation and product label.

Controlled implementation

A baseline measurement, controlled start-up and follow-up of corrosion, metal transport, filters, pressure drop and heat transfer make the result demonstrable.

Suitability scan

Checks before the first dose

A film-forming programme is not applied blindly over an existing treatment.

  • Water chemistry, materials, temperature and system volume
  • Existing deposits, filters, small passages and low-flow areas
  • Compatibility with current inhibitors, biocides and process materials
  • Baseline measurement for corrosion, metal transport, pressure drop and heat transfer

How we work

From initial measurement to lasting results

Not an isolated delivery, but a manageable route with clear fundamentals and verification.

01

Analysis

We map water chemistry, materials, process conditions and bottlenecks.

02

Design

We select chemistry, dosing and a measurement strategy suited to your system.

03

Implementation

We support installation, commissioning and safe integration into the process.

04

Verification

We monitor relevant KPIs and adjust based on results and trends.

Frequently asked questions

Technical choices require system context

These answers provide initial direction. The final approach follows from the installation data and product documentation.

Is MexProtect™ a biocide?

No. MexProtect™ is marketed as a film-forming corrosion inhibitor without a biocidal claim. The film-forming amine biocide is a separate product with its own authorisation and label.

Is MexProtect™ suitable for every open or closed circuit?

No. Water chemistry, materials, temperature, surface-area-to-volume ratio, existing deposits, current chemicals and discharge conditions must first be assessed.

What can change during the initial treatment period?

Film-forming technology can mobilise loosely bound corrosion products. Dosing, filtration, metal transport, pressure drop and visible indicators are therefore monitored more closely during start-up.

How is MexProtect™ performance verified?

With a combination of product or film checks, corrosion coupons or LPR, iron and copper trends, inspection and process KPIs such as pressure drop, filter loading and heat transfer.

A specific challenge?

Discuss your water system with a specialist.

Briefly describe what you observe in the installation. Together, we will determine the most logical first step.
